Cambridge Half Marathon

At the Cambridge Half Marathon we had 6 Athletes finish under the 1 hour and a half mark, which is very encouraging viewing for Marlene who is now starting to look at possible selections of this year’s Round Norfolk Relay.

The first athlete home was Chris Balmer who ran a fantastic time of 1:15:20 to finish 17th in the race, this is a personal best by over 3 minutes. English Masters Inter Area Challenge Indoor Championships

Out of the chilly winds a little further north in London 5 Ryston athletes were representing the East in the annual English Masters Inter Area Challenge indoor track and field competition at Lee Valley Athletics Centre. Unable to compete due to a knee injury, Gaye Clarke was Team Manager for the EVAC women, who recorded an almost unbelievable victory in their match considering how many cry-offs there had been even up to the morning of the fixture. One member of the winning team was Cath Duhig who, despite being 61, raced in the W35 category, placing 3rd in the 2000m walk, and then hobbled a leg of the 2 x200m relay.

Peter Duhig (M60) , Mick Ennis and Jeff Reed ( both M70) contributed to the Men's team's points tally, which helped EVAC to place 3rd in their competition, with the combined points of the men's and women's team resulting in a 2nd place overall for the East.
