Weekly News Update 20th March 2016

A quiet weekend for most Ryston athletes but for ones who did out and complete we rewarded with quick times and respectable finish positions

Coltishall Jaguars Mad March Hare 10K 

Three Ryston Runners completed the Coltishall Jaguars Mad March Hare 10K. Neil Stapleton and Dan Pratt finished within less than half a minute of each other, 34th in 41:20 and 41st in 41:49 respectively. Lorena Latisaite was not far behind, 51st in 42:47, 6th female finisher. Julie Barrow also ran, breaking the hour mark for the first time, finishing in a time of 59:38

Barcelona Marathon

The previous weekend Ryston member Phil Twite was, in his own words, “narrowly pipped by 2573 other runners”  when completing the Barcelona Marathon in 3:19:15.

LDWA Daffodil Dawdle

Kevin Howlett completed the LDWA Daffodil Dawdle event, over a new course form Stradbroke, in 4 hours 35 minutes. These events are essentially non-competitive but provide good quality training opportunities and great camaraderie and catering are guaranteed.

Brooks Fleet Half Marathon 

At the weekend, Ryston Runner Che Plant, in his first race on British soil for a few months, competed for the RAF in the Brooks Fleet Half Marathon and clocked 1:20:39 for 75th place overall. Heather Beattie also ran, running a new 2 minute pb with a time of 1:29:12

Other News

Second claimer Danny Rock was 4th in the Stowmarket Half Marathon  in a time of 77:21, a PB by 1.23 seconds, having just been unable to  hold on to the 3rd place he established in the early part of the race, finishing 4th.
