Norfolk County Championships 2016

Ryston showed their quality this weekend at the Norfolk County Track and Field Championships. There were big Personal Bests and plenty of medals as well as 4 new club records set.

Hannah Brown took the 200 and 400m U20 Womens double over the weekend with new personal best times of 26.1 and 59.6, not only are these new Ryston U20 Women Club Records but they are also the fastest 200m and 400m times set by a Ryston female ever.

Also in the Under 20 Women was Annie Rooks who took double gold in the 1500 (5.13.6) and 1500 Steeple Chase (5.47.9). The Steeple Chase was a new club record.

Ryston Runners finished the weekend in some style in the 800 metre races. Kit Howlett took gold in the Under 13 Boys with an impressive time of 2.27.1. Meg Willis took a massive 11 seconds of her Personal Best to finish second in the Under 13 Girls in a time of 2.35.5. Kate Willis took 5 seconds of her best to finish third in the U15 Girls in a time of 2:23.5. In the Senior Men’s Gareth Hunt took over a second of his best to run a time of 2.07.1 to finish second.

On Saturday the Howlett family showed their throwing skills with all taking medals in Javelin. Thea Won the Under 15 Girls Javelin, Stuart won the M50 Javelin (36.90) & Kit took the Silver in the Under 13 Boys Javelin. Stuarts Throw of 36.90, set a new club record which has stood for around 20 years.

Other Top Three Finished of the weekend went to David MacQueen in the Under 11 Boys with Gold in Long Jump (3.87m PB) & 150 (23.3 sec), Kit Howlett 2nd in U13 Boys 75m Hurdles (14.6 sec PB) & 3rd in Long Jump (4.17 PB), finishing the weekend with 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and a Bronze. Liam Clare was third in the U13B 75m Hurdles (14.8 PB), Joe McNulty 2nd in the U13 Boys 200m (28.6 sec PB by a second). Holly Chen 3rd in both the U17 Womens 100m (13.3 PB) and Triple Jump (9.74 PB). Naomi Darkins 3rd in U17 Womens High Jump (1.40m). James O’Neill was first M35 in 1500m in a time of 4.15.2. Dan Yellop finished first in the SM 200m in a time of 24.3. Ian Hogarth was first in both the M35 High Jump (1.52m) & 400H (70.7). Stuart Howlett won the M50 100m (13.2 sec PB).

Personal Bests were achieved by the following, George Evans U11 Boys Vortex. Mia Moore 100m (15.0 sec, making the final), Lily Teasdale (70m H 15.9, 200 35.0, Shot 4.17), Bea Honeybone (LJ 3.86m, [6th out of a field of 17, improving pb on 4 separate jumps], Javelin 12.25m), Liam Clare (4.91 Long Jump & 100m 14.0, finishing 5th in both). Saffron Teasdale got a pair of PBs in Triple Jump (6.14) and Discus (11.60). Robert MacQueen ran 13.2 in the 100m. Gabrielle Clare long jumped a new best of 3.88m.
