Weekly Update - 19th June

It has been a busy weekend of Track and Field for Ryston Runners this weekend, with the British Masters Pentathlon Championships, Southern Athletics League Match, Anglian Schools and Quad Kids all on. 

As of now there is no news of any road events, this will updated once some information is recieved.

British Masters Pentathlon Championships

Ryston had two athletes at the British Masters Pentathlon Championships in Oxford. Stuart Howlett came away with the Silver in the M50 as well as two new M50 Club Records. He jumped 4.35m in Long Jump to start the day of, followed by a 37.04m Club Record Javelin Throw, the 26.91 sec Club Record 200m Sprint, 30.15m Discus and then a 10 second improvement in the 1500m (5:36mins) to finish the day of with an overall score of 2739.

Also taking part was David Lane who had an overall score of 2047, recording new personal bests in the Javelin and the 1500m.

Southern Athletics League - Croydon

On Saturday the Senior Track Team headed to Croydon for the third SAL League Match of the season. The team managed to battle to third on the day, agonisingly close to second, 176 to 173.5.

Some highlight performances from the day were pb’s for Tom Barnes-Hooker in the 110 Hurdles (19.9secs) and 400 Hurdles (66.8secs), Holly Chen in the Long Jump (4.42m) and Lorena Latisaite 200 (31.3secs), 3000m (1:32.9mins) & 2k Steeplechase (8.33.0mins).

There were wins for the following people  Rob Simmonds (110 Hurdles, Shot Put, Discus, Hammer & Javelin) Che Plant (400 Hurdles), Chris Balmer (2km Steeple Chase), Mel Reed (800m & 3000m), Annie Rooks (2km Steeple Chase), Lorena Latisaite (2km Steeple Chase),

Anglian Schools

Ryston had three athletes who were representing their County School Teams for the first time on Sunday at the UEA in Norwich.

Holly Chen (Norfolk) ran 13.6 in the 100m to finish 7th, as well as being part of the 4 x 100 team which finished fourth. Naomi Darkins (Norfolk) earnt a top three finish in the Pole Vault. Robert MacQueen (Cambidgeshire) ran 46.3 seconds in his first 300m race.

Also competing was Hannah Brown (Norfolk) who ran 59.6 seconds in the 400m Thea Howlett who finished 5th in the Javelin with a throw of 31 metres and Kate Willis who took home Bronze in the Junior Girls 800m.

Quad Kids

Ryston had multiple juniors take part in quad kids. David MacQueen finished fourth in the Younger Boys Age Category, throwing a new best in the howlet (20.54m). Bailey Took medalled for overall performance in the Older Boys Age Category. Harry Wakefield in the Vortex Howler launched the howler an incredible 42.78m. 

Bea Honeybone in the Older Girls age group won the Vortex with a throw of 32.01 and ran a new 100m PB in a time of 16 seconds.
