Weekly Performance Update 10/07/16

It has been a busy week for Ryston athletes, especialy on the track with athletes competiting at English Schools, Southern Athletics, Eastern Masters League, Quad Kids. And then some athletes running Wroxham 5km and other road races.

English School Championships - Gateshead

On Friday, Ryston had two athletes take part in the English Schools Championships at Gateshead, to take part in this event you are required to hit a set standard in your chosen event as well as being selected by your county. In the Junior Girls Kate Willis managed to qualify in her first year in the age group, she came 8th in her hear with a time of 2:23:65. Hannah Brown was taking part in the Senior Girls 400m, she was 5th in her heat in a time of 59.60secs.

Southern Athletics League -Bury St Edmunds

On Saturday the Ryston Senior Team took part in the 4th match of the season in the Southern Athletics League. With a strong team out we managed to finish the day 2nd, finishing behind Havering and ahead of Bexley and West Suffolk the home team.

Holly Chen set a new Club Record in the Triple Jump, with a jump of 9.83m. Gabrielle Clare had a fantastic day, setting 3 new personal bests, 4.14m (Long Jump), 15.2sec (100m) & 21.6sec (100H). Caitlin Harris-Doy set new bests in the High Jump (1.43m) and Triple Jump (9.23m).  Lorena Latisaite had a good day on the track with pbs in the 1500 (5.37mins) and 400 Hurdles (79.2sec). Mel Reed ran a new best in 400m (65.2secs).

Callum Stanforth took 4 seconds of his 800m personal best with a time of 2.02.4. Che Plant ran 59.1secs in 400m to set a new PB. And Tom Barnes Hooker dipped under 65 seconds in the 400 Hurdles (64.4secs) to win his race. On the day there were wins on the day for Robert Simmonds (3k Steeple Chase 10.48.8 & Javelin 46.48).

EMAC – Kings Lynn

At our home match, both the Mens and Womens team won their match.

Quad Kids – Great Yarmouth

David MacQueen won the Junior Boys age group. Running a pb in the 75m (11.3secs) & 600m (2.06min). George Evans set a new personal best overall points. As well as a 1.5 second pb in the 75m (12.9sec).

Bailey Took won the older age group with individual wins in the 800 and 100.

Wroxham 5km

Ryston had 9 Ryston athletes take part on Wednesday night at the Wroxham 5km. There was pbs for Andy Smith (16:50), Richard Watson (18:15) and Neil Stapleton (18:46). Pete Johnson finished second in his age group in a time of 18:42.

Others running was Adam Matthews (17:03), Gareth Hunt (18:08), Barry Smith (20:44), Katie Moyle (25:21) and Sophie Weaver (25:57).

Tenby Marathon

Darren Smith ran a time of 4.27 hours at the Tenby Marathon.

Ryston 5 Mile Handicap

Thursday evening is the yearly handicap 5 Mile Road Race. If you haven't already done so please let us know if you are taking part so that we can predict times. 

The Race starts and finishes at the Fed Club. First people start at 7pm, so leave enough time to get there and warmed up.
