Wissey Half Marathon and EMAC T&F Champs

Sunday morning saw the return of Ryston’s own organised Wissey Half Marathon which saw 233 runners and 2 Wheelchair athletes take on the picturesque course. Saturday we had track athletes taking part in the Eastern Masters Track and Field Championships at Sandy

Wissey Half Marathon

The first and third athletes home were both Ryston Athletes, with Matt Pyatt taking the win in a time of 1:14:24, 5 minutes quicker than any other runners taking part. Third Place was Warren Armstong who ran a time of 1:20.05.

The second female home was Susan Matthews in an impressive time of 1:30.5 breaking the Vet Womens 35 Ryston Club Record. 

Finishing 4th in the Womens and 1st in her Age Category was Lesley Robins with a new pb by 3 minutes in a time of 1:35.21, as well as personal best she improved on her own club record.

Another big personal best of the day was set by Neil Stapleton with a time of 1:30:5.

EMAC Track and Field Championships

On Saturday was the Eastern Masters Athletics Championships. Ryston had 4 athletes taking part and all came home with medals.

In the V45 Age Group Paul Harrison won the Triple Jump (9.97m) and was second in Long Jump (4.28m). In V50 David Lane was first in the 400 Hurdles (84:53), 2nd in the High Jump (1.30m), Long Jump (4.61m) and Triple Jump (9.22m). In V60 Paul Oakes won the Pole vault with 2.63m and was 2nd in High Jump (1.25m).

The solo female athlete was Gaye Clarke who won the 80m Hurldes (15.13secs) and was second in Long Jump (3.81m).

Other News

-  On Saturday Richard Dickson took part in the Rat Race Man Vs Mountain. Where you have to run 22 Miles with a Total Climb of 5055 Feet starting at Caernarfon Castle and through Snowdon. Richard finished in a time of 4:23:24 which positioned him 135 out of 1312 runners.
