The Round Norfolk Relay is a unique 17-stage continuous relay event around the perimeter of the county. The 2024 event is on the weekend of 14th-15th September and the club has entered 3 teams. Details on the event can be found at www.roundnorfolkrelay.com. The format creates a team and club buzz like no other so we'd love for members new and old to get involved.
Teams managers of the teams this year are Adam Matthews / Rob Simmonds (Open class team), Lesley Robins (Ladies class team) and Graeme Leeson (Mixed/Club class team).
Members, what do you need to do? Let us know by filling out the form below if:
- You would like to be involved from a volunteering perspective? Each team requires a support crew that follows the teams throughout the event, most importantly in the hours of darkness where the vehicle performs a safety function as runners make their way along road sections of the course. Please appreciate that without this help the teams cannot run.
- You would like to be considered to run in the event? Please note that as a club with well over 200 senior members and only 17 running slots available per team we expect to be over subscribed, however please do not let this stop you from expressing an interest. Every year people get injured and places come available. Also note that being willing and able to run a 'long' stage often helps! Note: There will be a fee to run in the event. TBC, but will be heavily subsidised by the club and excellent value compared to other running events.
For people that would like to run, please be aware of the following criteria for eligibility for selection/consideration:
- First claim members get priority (for club class team this is mandatory)
- Members must be fully paid up members of the club by 30th June 2024
The approach to selection this year will be as follows:
- Initial priority will be to fill the stages over half marathon distance across all teams
- Focus will then turn to remaining stages, allowing for members to run into form and still be considered for selection nearer the event.
